In 1805 John Sawyer, plumber, died in possession of a house he had erected on a piece of land purchased from William Cooper, abutting west on the high road from the Market House to the House of Correction, together with his plumber's shop, purchased of Robert Chester Cooper, abutting west on the stable belonging to the Stag Inn and south to East Street. This passed to his wife Sarah who married John Freeman in 1808. After her death in 1843 it passed eventually after a law suit to her son John who sold in 1868 to Thomas Tickner Cox, gent.
