Papers in cases relating to the laws, customs, and privileges of the City, or in which the Corporation was a party:-
ZCL/1 - 81. Concerning the method of election of the governing body; mainly proceedings on informations in the nature of Quo Warrantos.
ZCL/82 - 106. Concerning St. John's Hospital.
ZCL/107 - 148. General series.
The items numbered 121 are an assortment of papers and volumes relating to the charities of Owen Jones, Valentine Broughton and John Vernon and seem to have been made up into bundles in the early nineteenth century

Most of these legal papers were found in bundles dating from the second half of the nineteenth century. The bundles have been arranged in the three series above. This arrangement entailed the division of a few bundles, and at the same time it was necessary to remove from the bundles a number of items which did not relate to Corporation lawsuits.
A few items relating to cases here were found among the miscellaneous debris in the side-strongroom, and have been added in the appropriate places.
