Percy Woods was born on July 5th 1842 in Brook House, Mint Street, Godalming, the son of Charles John Woods, solicitor, Coroner and Town Clerk. He married in 1881 Helen Mariah Trimmer, but she died in 1888, after which he lived many years in Bromley, Kent, employed as a civil servant first at the Admiralty and then at the Treasury. He retired in 1902 and was awarded the C.B. for his services. He then lived in Guildford, where he died in 1922
