For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty during heavy fighting east of Amiens from 21st March to 1st April, 1918. He succeeded in delivering ammunition and rations to his company under circumstances of extraordinary difficulty and danger. The enemy had forced a continuous retirement of our line, thus causing the location of sections to change hour by hour. Despite this, he got supplies to them daily, with unfailing regularity, and delivered them personally.;
