Administrative / biographical background

Royal Frederick Lodge was granted a warrant by the Moderns' Grand Lodge to meet as No. 271 at Rotterdam, Holland on 25 January 1762. The Lodge was renumbered as No. 215 in 1770, as No. 173 in 1780, as No. 174 in 1781 and as No. 148 in 1792. The Lodge appears to have ceased meeting after 1785 and was erased from the roll of the United Grand Lodge of England after the Moderns' and Antients' Grand Lodges formed a union in 1813.
