Description

CCA-DCc-ChAnt/R/1-13A These documents relate to the manor of Ruckinge, Kent, in the Romney Marshes. The sections for Ruckinge in DCc-Register/C (ff243r-248v) and in DCc-Register/E (ff282v-285r) contain the same 11 charters. The originals of all of these registered versions are included in the Ruckinge section of the Chartae.

CCA-DCc-ChAnt/R/14-21A These charters relate to Reculver, which lies on the North Kent coast, 10 miles north east of Canterbury. DCc-Register/C, ff292r-293v contains 12 charters for Reculver.

CCA-DCc-ChAnt/R/22-38C This section includes documents relating to Old and New Romney, as well as to the Romney Marshes in general and some unidentified places in the Marshes. There is also material relating to the priory manors of Agney, in Old Romney, and of Mersham, to which some land on the Romney Marshes belonged. The section for Agney in DCc-Register/C (ff258r-262r) includes 22 charters, the first of which is the only one given in the section for the manor in DCc-Register/E (f288r). Of these registered versions, there are no originals in this section of the Chartae for nos 1, 3, 9, 10, 13, 14, and 16. No 9 is now in Keele University Library as Hatton Wood MSS, 72/46/3 (15), and no 10 is 72/46/3 (16). Charter 72/46/3 (14) in the same collection also relates to Agney manor.

CCA-DCc-CAnt/R/39-45A This section of charters relates to the priory's manor of Monks Risborough which lies on the Chiltern Hills in Buckingham, adjacent to Princes Risborough and between Aylesbury and High Wycombe. There are 24 charters relating to Monks Risborough in DCc-Register/B, ff347v-357v, and 15 in DCc-Register/E, ff370r-373r. There are no original charters for a significant number of these registered versions. DCc-ChAnt/R/40 relates to Ruborough in Somerset.

CCA-DCc-CAnt/R/46-50A The charters in this section relate to the cathedral city of Rochester in Kent, which lies on the River Medway, 8½ miles north of Maidstone. DCc-ChAnt/R/70A and DCc-ChAnt/R/70B also relate to Rochester.

CCA-DCc-CAnt/R/51-56 These documents relate to the cathedral city of Rouen, which lies approximately 40 miles south of Dieppe and 60 miles north west of Paris in the Seine-Maritime region of Northern France.

CCA-DCc-CAnt/R/57-60 These charters relate to the town of Rye which lies on the south-eastern edge of the Romney Marshes, just across the border into Sussex.

CCA-DCc-ChAnt/P/61-69 The remaining charters relate to various places beginning with R.
