These are original letters in Hervey's hand, guarded and bound into a volume c. 1910. It is not known how the letters to Lady Mary came back into the Hervey family; her letters to Hervey were returned to her after his death, by the 2nd Earl of Bristol (see R. Halsband, The Life of Lady Mary Wortley Montagu, 1956, p. 223, where letters in this collection are also quoted.)
