Description (What the record is about)
-
Collection of 50 largely uncaptioned prints, mainly early 20th century, plus two modern copy prints of a portrait of a young man in sailor's uniform, taken by the Nagakiyokwan Studio, Hankow and dated 5 May 1912. The majority of the photographs relate to the outbreak of the Chinese Revolution in Hankow/Wuhan in 1911, with additional topographical views and portraits from various locations. The majority of these latter appear to be copy prints of earlier commercial photographs (views of the Ming Tombs, Amoy, executed pirates and punishments such as the caingue, etc).
