Description

Agenda papers including, amongst other things:

- mutual assistance regarding repair of war damage;

- communications from Senior Regional Officer regarding: additional siren in Brookfield Road, Goldington; use of Goldington School as Advance Regional Headquarters; repair of damage in the event of a blitz on Bedford; control of incendiary bombs; Wardens' posts at The Bungalow, Flitton, Tingrith Village Hall, Shefford Lads' Club and The Shelter, Pulloxhill;

- communications from Ministry of Health regarding: use of Clapham School as a Rest Centre; allocation of medical personnel between civilian and military services; Blood Transfusion Service; evacuation of hospitals in an emergency; use of The Lawns, Biggleswade as a First Aid Post; billeting at Leighton Buzzard; public air raid shelter administration in Luton Borough;

- appointment of Bedford Borough Librarian as Information Officer for the Borough;

- "grumbling" of three wholetime Rescue Party personnel in Bedford Borough, regarding their desire for their services to be released and disciplinary action considered;

- communications from Ministry of Home Security regarding: Control of Noise (Defence Order) 1940; general organisation of recovery of goods and property; disposal of building materials salvaged from debris; Fire Prevention Bulletin No.2;

- domiciliary medical attendance for air raid casualties;

- Wardens' Post and First Aid Point at Clapham Wesleyan Methodist Sunday School;

- request of captain of HMS Bedfordshire for a crest to be used for the ship [which was later sunk by a U-Boat off Okracoke Island, North Carolina, USA on 11/12th May 1942 whilst on convoy duty];

- Wardens' Post at Little Staughton Baptist Chapel Sunday School and Home Farm, Milton Ernest;

- accommodation for refugees from air attack.
