Administrative / biographical background

Vitruvian Lodge was granted a warrant by the Antients' Grand Lodge on 18 May 1810 to meet as No. 104B and was named in 1823. In 1810 the Lodge met at the Constitution, Drury Lane, London. At the union between the Moderns' and the Antients' Grand Lodges to form the United Grand Lodge of England in 1813, the Lodge was renumbered as No. 128. In 1832 the Lodge was renumbered as No. 128 and was renumbered to meet as No. 87 in 1863. The Lodge has met in many inns and taverns in London but now meets at Freemasons' Hall, Great Queen Street, London.
