The records of the Malden Labour Hall Ltd were deposited in July 1995 by Mr H Barker. The society was set up in 1943 to provide premises for the local party. Deacon House, 53 Kingston Rd was bought in 1955 and money was raised by the selling of shares in the property. The combination of the high costs of maintenance combined with a dwindling number of members led to the decision in 1982 to sell the property and give the proceeds to the Kingston Constituency Labour Party. It took until 1987 for this process to be completed.
