'Annals of Botany Minute Book 1885-1897'

Correspondence, minutes and related papers which record the inception of the journal ANNALS OF BOTANY. The majority of the correspondence is between Isaac Bayley Balfour and other botanists who were consulted or concerned with the journal. Also contains correspondence with publishers Clarendon Press.

Minutes of the Annals of Botany committee meetings date from 1886-1897. Issues discussed include the journal's editorial policy, production costs and arrangements with Clarendon Press.

The first letter in the volume is from Vernon Herbert Blackman, editor of the journal, to the Director of RBG Kew, Edward Salisbury, concerning this volume being given to the library in c.1943.
