The manor lay in two counties. It was held by the countess Mary in dower until 1362 and had passed to Margaret Marshal, with Kentford, by 1399. It formed part of the great settlement of 1476 on the duchess Elizabeth, and in Feb. 1488 the reversion was settled by William de Berkeley on his stepsons Richard and Edward Willoughby, with Kentford, to them and their male issue; it reverted to Henry Lord Berkeley in 1559-60. [Smyth, ii. 131.]
