Description

Notes on the examination of the state of the conduits, from the reserveur at Quarry to its fountain head. Made with Joseph Loxdale Esq., Mr. W. Winton, Wm. Eccleston the plumbers foreman. They walked the whole length of the pipe and found no wet or faulty place to indicate the imperfection of any part of the pipe. "The reservoir was at the Quarry full and overflowing with the most pellucid water and perfectly clean".

The great cistern and the fountain head and the wells in the inclosure round it were full. An air pipe was fitted on at Mr. Beck's hedge and a brick shaft built up to protect the air-pipe with a loose wooden cover. Ordered this cover to be made to lock on, Mr. Beck to have one key, another to be kept at the Hall.

Wiston recommended more ties or cocks to be adapted to the conduit pipe leading from the cock by the road at the back of Kingsland near Mr. J. Oxdale's field to the Tie in the late Wm. Smith's Esq., field. It is a long reach of pipe, and any impediment in the flow of water between these two points cannot be easily discovered from want of these.

There is a great quantity of water at the Conduit which runs from a spring in a field about 20 or more yards from the fountain head down a ditch into the road to Radbrook house and the Hanwood Turnpike Gate.

On dorse: part of a receipt for medicine.

Docketed "29 September 1828. Conduits. Dr. Dugard".
