CORONERS' RECORDS AT LINCOLNSHIRE ARCHIVES - SUMMARY

18th to 19th Centuries

LINCOLNSHIRE (whole county): inquests 1753-1774 (ref INQ; these records have been listed and indexed - ask Search Room staff for details)

CAISTOR: registers of inquests 1837-1880, and other miscellaneous records (ref LAMB 4)

KIRTON (LINDSEY): inquests and depositions 1869-1911 (ref CORONER/KIRTON + date + name)

SPALDING: inquests, 1810-1873 (some years missing). Includes, for the earlier years, a few inquests held in Kesteven by the Spalding coroner, Samuel Edwards. Edwards had previously been a coroner in Huntingdonshire, and this deposit consequently also includes a small bundle of Huntingdonshire (Farcet, Yaxley, Stanground area) inquests, 1802-1806

STAMFORD & SOUTH RUTLAND: inquests 1894-1909 (listed)

20th century

Coroners' records are subject to closure periods of 30 years for registers of deaths and routine administrative papers, and 75 years for individual inquest files/death reports. Requests to view closed material will be passed on to the appropriate coroner by Lincolnshire Archives staff.
