The Bedford Lodge No. 282 was named and established in 1791. In 1791 the lodge met at the Duke of Bedford's House [now the site of the Bedford Hotel], Bedford Square, Tavistock, Devon. The lodge now meets at Freemasons' Hall, Pym Street, Tavistock.
