Administrative / biographical background

These properties were sold in 1918 by Judge James Dyer Tremlett, author of the Punjab Civil Code. He died in 1918 leaving a considerable fortune to the outcast tribes of India and a notable collection of gold and silver coinage (300 B.C.) to the FitzWilliam Museum, Cambridge. He was first cousin to Colonel E.J. Tremlett, father of the depositor].
