Administrative / biographical background

C.P. Davies worked for many years as Reference Librarian at Folkestone and carefully arranged the material as he acquired it. He spent a lot of time contacting millers themselves and placed their letters in the collection. A substantial part of the collection is 46 boxes of material on Kent mills, 14 on Sussex mills and 18 boxes covering the rest of the British Isles, plus photograph and postcard albums (13+), and many records (19th & 20th century) of the milling family from Dover the Mannerings.
