William Speirs Bruce was the leader of the Scottish National Antarctic Expedition 1902-04 (Scotia). Much of the collection contains papers relating to this expedition and his other scientific work. There is a large amount of correspondence with contemporary polar explorers and interested parties. His other big interest was Spitsbergen with some of the collection relating to the Scottish Spitsbergen Syndicate.
