[The Blay family are believed to have been in business as builders since the 1750s. Local directories do not record the firm in 1847, but the following entries give some indication of the firm's progress:-

1887-1891 Thomas Blay, builder, White Waltham.

1895-1920 Thomas Blay, builder, Paley Street, White Waltham.
