This Estates Sub-Committee was appointed in November 1922. Its main function was to advise on the management of larger Council owned estates. It was split from the former Tenants and Estates Sub-Committee (see BCC/1/AM/11). In October 1939, all sub-committees reporting to the Estates Committee, with the exception of the Letting and Rents Sub-Committee, were merged into the Emergency Sub-Committee for the duration of the war (see BCC/1/AM/20). The Sub-Committee was reconstituted in February 1946, with the mandate to consider the management of all estates and properties of the Corporation, including weekly tenancies of municipal properties and requisitioned properties, as well as to consider financial, staff and accommodation matters not already delegated. In December 1946, the staff, accommodation and financial concerns were returned to the reconstituted Finance and General Purpose Sub-Committee (see BCC/1/AM/9).
