PARISH OF CHRIST THE KING, SOUTH PATCHAM

Patcham expanded during the 1930s with the building of the Ladies Mile estate and the development of the area around Carden, Braybon and Graham Avenues. The new Conventional District of Christ the King, South Patcham, was established from parts of the parishes of Patcham, Falmer and Preston. The church hall, which was also used as a church, was dedicated on 31 March 1939. South Patcham achieved parish status in 1952. A new church was consecrated on 16 March 1959; the architect was L Keir Hett, and the builders were Ringmer Building Works.
