The Bell Inn is listed in Pigot's New Commercial Directory, 1828/29, and it seems likely that the premises used as an inn from at least the late 18th century, since they are probably shown on A map and survey of two parcels of land belonging to Mr Richard Hart, by T Weller (ACC 3763)
The inventory was compiled because James Jenner took over from Mrs Caroline Jenner as licensee
The inn was demolished around 1980 for the building of the Somerfield supermarket
