Nine parishes had an incorporated House of Industry at Gimingham and nine had one at Sheringham, both built in 1805. These became the workhouses of the Erpingham Union as incorporated under the 1834 Act.

Erpingham Union Board of Guardians was replaced by Guardians Committee No. 1 in 1930.
