It is now established that Rolls-Royce will design a 15,000lb SSL max unboosted turbojet, complete with re-heat system. It is also understood that Armstrong Siddeley Motors would probably get an order for the design and development of a high temperature engine, probably without re-heat. If, in the final analysis, our type proves to be more successful is there anything to prevent our competitors from applying certain techniques - such as hollow turbine blades - to their model? If the design mass-flow of our new engine is roughly comparable to that of the new Rolls-Royce turbojet, are we likely to find our competitors 'invading' our particular field of development if their own efforts result in a turbojet which is inadequate in high-altitude performance and /or consumption for use in supersonic 'M.2' fighters
