I. All that Dwellinghouse with the coachhouses, stables, outhouses, yards etc. on the N. side of West Street formerly in occ. of Rev. Thomas D'Oyly, Doctor of Laws, then of John Williams, esq., then of Mrs. Frances Williams, his widow, (having messuage formerly belonging to George Stamper, and in occ. of Guy Wheeler adjoining partly on the W., messuage and garden formerly belonging to John Bulbeck and in occ. of Humphrey Woodyer partly on the E., and a close of pasture land, late a garden, formerly belonging to John Page, esq., and in occ. of William Knott on the N.) to the nos. of (ii)
Recites death of Miles Pook Penfold in October 1837, and his burial at Farnham, co. Surrey, leaving Elizabeth, his widow
Recites will of said Elizabeth Penfold, 23 January 1841, bequeathing all her property, except the Mansionhouse called Westgate House with appurtenances demised to Joseph McCarogher, Doctor of Medicine, to the Rev. Laurence William Eliot and James Shotter, upon Trust to sell the same and, having paid certain legacies, to pay the remainder of the monies to said John Leigh Williams (therein called John Leigh Hollest), and all the residuary freehold, copyhold and leasehold premises to John Leigh Williams. Testatrix appointed (a), Laurence William Eliot and James Shotter exors. of her said will
Recites death of said Elizabeth Penfold, 23 April 1842, and proving of her will P.C.C. 20 May 1842
Recites contract for sale of land hereinafter described between said John Leigh Williams and William Cobden Rhoades
Recites desire of William Cobden Rhoades that the premises shall be assured and limited as hereinafter declared
II. All that piece of land in St. Peter the Great, Chichester, (otherwise Subdeanery) near to the residence of William Cobden Rhoades, being the N. end of the freehold garden belonging to the said Mansionhouse called Westgate House, in occ. of William Cobden Rhoades, bounded N. by lifehold land held by lease from the Dean and Chapter, on E. by premises in occ. of Messrs. Dendy, on S. by residue of said garden, and on W. by close of land mentioned in hereinbefore recited Indentures of Lease, now being to said John Leigh Williams
