Born Wigan 31/10/1895;educ Wigan Institute and The Garmmar Sch, Wigan; was associated with his father's business, as a Colliery Agent; enlisted 3 Bn Liverpool Regt 24/1/1916 and transf to RWF following May; served BEF F&F from May; returned UK the following February and after a period of training at Clipstone was gazetted 2Lt MGC from 6/9/17; promoted Lt May 1918; ret France Oct 1917 and wounded at Passchendaele in Nov, and invalided home. On recovery in April, to France and was KIA on the Aisne 27/5/18. Unmarried.
