The Buntingford Rural District consisted of the civil parishes of Anstey, Ardeley, Aspenden, Broadfield, Buckland, Cottered, Great Hormead, Little Hormead, Layston, Meesden, Rushden, Sandon, Throcking, Wallington, Westmill and Wyddial. The Rural District Council was successor to the Buntingford Rural Sanitary Authority. In 1935 Rushden, Sandon and Wallington were transferred to Hitchin Rural District (see RDC 10) while the remainder of the Rural District became part of Braughing Rural District (see RDC 3).
