46035 Colour Serjeant ERNEST ASHER BURDETT of 204 Company THE MACHINE GUN CORPS.
Ernest was born in 1889 in KINGSTHORPE, NORTHAMPTONSHIRE. At the time of his enlistment, 25th October 1915, he was living in COVENTRY and was a County Court Clerk.
On enlistment he became Private 15388 with the 13th ( RESERVE ) Battalion THE ROYAL WARWICKSHIRE REGIMENT.
Within days he was appointed Lance Corporal and by 1st January 1916 he was made Corporal.
He transferred to the Machine Gun Corps on 29th July 1916.
He went to FRANCE on 15th March 1917 with 204 Coy.
On 26th May 1917 he was Promoted to Colour Serjeant and Appointed Company Quarter Master Serjeant.
From June 1917 he performed the duties of Company Accountant.
He later served as CQMS to 7th Depot Company based at Camiers.
He returned to the UK on 2nd January 1919 and was discharged to Army Reserve Class Z on 30th January 1919
Ernest died in GRIMSBY in 1964
