Private Arthur Nicholls (no. 3457), 'E' Company, 1st Battalion, Leicestershire Regiment probably kept a diary throughout the siege of Ladysmith. The two volumes from 26 October 1899 to 8 February 1900 have survived and a copy of a typed transcript lodged with the regimental museum.
