Appeal of Egloshayle against order of 1 December last for removal of Joan, wife of William Rogers, husbandman, from Talland to Egloshayle, after considering evidence of William Rogers, her husband, that he was born in Illogan and bound by the parish as an apprentice, at age of seven years, to Samuel Rosewarne of Illogan, until he was twenty-four. He lived with him for about one year, and then his master assigned him to George Merriott, master of a trading vessel, for about six months, which he should not have done. At the age of nine, he returned to Samuel Rosewarne's service for about six months, but then he ran away, living in Lanivet for three years, in St Tudy for nine years, and in St Mabyn for nine weeks, when he was drawn in the militia for that parish, but was discharged as under size. He then went to Egloshayle and hired himself to Thomas Davey, farmer, by the year, for 2½ years, but without the knowledge or consent of Rosewarne. He then went to St Germans until he was 24 years of age. He then hired himself for a year to Thomas Badcock, but left after six months. He also stated that, when he left Davey's service in Egloshayle, he was six months less than the age of 24: removal order quashed, subject to the opinion of the Court of King's Bench; costs to Egloshayle.
