In 1863 the Liverpool South Circuit was subdivided into the Liverpool Pitt Street and the Liverpool Wesley Circuits. In 1875 the Pitt Street Circuit was re-named as the Liverpool Mission Circuit (see Ian Sellars The Methodist Chapels and Preaching Places of Liverpool & District (1750 - 1971) c. 1971, (ref.
