Hughe Huls is bound by obligation of statute merchant dated with these presents, recognised at the Borough of Wigan co Lancs before Peter Marshe gentleman mayor and Robert Fyanington clerk for recognizances in the Borough, to Richards Brereton in £5000

Defeazance if Huls, his heirs and assigns, discharge the manor of Wetherknottesford co Chester and landsetc mentioned in a pair of indentures (1) Huls (2) Russell, Taylor and Crompton, dated 22 June 32 Elizabeth (1590) from all encumbrances by himself, John Huls his late brother, or Thomas Huls his late father or ancestors (leases for 3 lives or 21 years or under on the old accustomed rent and service or more excepted), and perform covenants and make further assurance; at Michaelmas next he is to deliver to Brereton his heirs and assigns all deeds, rentals, courtrolls, pleadings, counterparts of leases etc which only concern these premises and anything he has or may obtain without process in law
