Description

A fascicule of official documents, comprising:

1. Memorandum of Notes on Mekran, prepared by Lieutenant Ross (No. 47 of 1865). Forwarded by The Commissioner in Sind to Sir H B E Frere, KCB, Governor and President in Council, Bombay.

2. Opinion (No. 64 of 1866), by Lyttleton H Bayley. Advocat General. Bombay, 3 July, 1866.

3. Suggestions for the Protection of the North-West Frontier of India, with Reference to the Advance of the Russians in Central Asia, by Lt Col Sir H Green, CB, KCSI, Political Superintendent and Commandant on the Sind Frontier.

4. Extracts of letters from the late General John Jacob (1856) to Lord Canning, and Sir H Green (comprising "Suggestions towards the Permanent Defence of the North-West Frontier of India" and "Memorandum of Proposed Arrangements in case of a British Force being stationed at Quetta, or any other convenient spot above the Bolan Pass").

5. "Report on a Visit to Kej and Route Through Mekran from Gwadur to Kurrachee" by Lt E C Ross, Assistant to the Political Agents at Kelat and Muscat. Kurrachee, November 1865.

6. Memorandum on Beloochistan. Major G P Le Messurier, late Superintendent, Sind Survey. Bombay, 9 March, 1842.

The documents form part of a bequest to the RSAA by Major R C Murphy.
