Agents: Zaccheus Walker Junior. 1789-1822.

Zaccheus ('Zack') Walker Junior (1768-1822) was Matthew Boulton's nephew. His father was Matthew Boulton's brother-in-law Zaccheus (a.k.a. 'Zack') Walker Senior (d.1808) and his mother was Matthew Boulton's sister, Mary, who died not long after Zaccheus Junior's birth. Later in life Zaccheus Walker Senior married his second wife, Hannah, his former housekeeper, by whom he had a daughter, Anne.

Some of the letters here relate to Zaccheus Walker Junior's extensive travels abroad to America, France, Russia etc. for the Soho business and contain interesting sidelights on different countries, while many of the later letters in the sequence give details of the technical problems overcome during the production of the high-relief memorial medal of Matthew Boulton.

Zaccheus Walker Junior died suddenly on Easter Sunday 1822. A copy of the post-mortem report is included in the file.
