PARISH OF EASTBOURNE ALL SAINTS

The site of the church was given by the Duke of Devonshire, and the foundation stone was laid on All Saints' Day, 1 November 1877; the consecration took place on 11 June 1879. The vicarage (now Colville Court) was completed in 1890, and the parish room was added at about the same time. The vestry was added in 1908. The church, except for the tower and vestry, was burnt down on 29 September 1927. Services were then held in the College Hall and Chapel of Eastbourne College until the new church building was opened on 9 June 1929; the architects were Fenning and Stonham, of Eastbourne. It was consecrated by George Kennedy Allen Bell, Bishop of Chichester, on 25 February 1930. A new vicarage was built in 1980.
