This bound volume contains correspondence, the majority of which was sent from Alexander Anderson to William Forsyth. The correspondence has been numbered and pieces of plain paper have also been inserted within the correspondence, presumably when the decision was made to bind the volume. Notes have been added with information about the places and dates on which correspondence was sent and they are as follows-

July 1794 - St Vincent Botanical Garden (153-158) - this includes a letter sent about the breadfruit brought by Captain Bligh of the Bounty (153)
July 1792 - St Vincent (160-3)
May-July 1795 - St Vincent (165-170) - this includes a letter to a Mr George Young sent from London (165-6) and a letter from Anderson to William Forsyth's son (169-170)Also included is a letter sent from George Melville to Forsyth relating to Anderson and the possibility that he would be awarded a medal or merit by the Committee of the Society of Arts, dated 7 April [17]98 (172-3); and a letter to Dr George Young from Anderson dated 4 May 1787 (112).
