From his mother - improvements at Brougham; a christening at Ponsonby; the Vanes - F Vane's marriage is off, though he "sold out of the Army" at the lady's father's request; what sum did Miss Knott advance when you first went to India? - Mr Knott asks me if it was repaid; her bankers cannot say; was it a gift, or a loan? quotes Mr Knott's letters verbatim; the sum was £500, the interest would by now be about £337; Mr Brougham's opinion is that he has no claim; Lady Musgrave ill at Eden Hall, Temple Sowerby
