Description

1. Edward Rupert of St. Martins in the Fields esq, only son and heir and administrator of the goods of Anne Rupert als Rewberd his late mother decd. in her own right and of the goods and chattels of Sir Thomas Whitmore late of Bridgnorth knt of the Bath decd. not administered by Anne.

2. Launcelott Taylor of Bridgnorth gent.

Articles of agreement for assignment to Taylor or trustees of a messuage which Sir Thomas Whitmore inhabited in Bridgnorth called St. Johns, with Ridleys close and other appurtenances which Rubert claims to hold by virtue of 2 several judgements obtained by Ann Rupert als Rowberd in H.M. Court of Kings Bench at Westminster against Sir Thomas Whitmore, one for £600 and the other for £1000 in Mich. term 1677. Taylor covenants to pay £100 (£35 at the sealing of the conveyance, £40 on 13 Feb next, and £25 on 22 May following at Mr. Anthony Smyths house in Chancery.Lane. Rupert shall be at liberty to sue for arrears of rent due from Roger Pope esq and Francis Barkley esq, tenants of the premises up to Ladyday last, "soe as he receive no more of the said arrears then what with the money hereby paid and to bee paid by the said Launcellott and his Wife shall make upp what is due to him for debt and charges. And to sue the said Francis Barkley for the goods and things which by his lease hee was to leave behind him on the premises and to appropriate the same to such use and uses as hee shall thinke best", Lancellott to assist him in this. The judgements shall stand in force for Lancelot's security in the premises and he shall receive any arrears from the tenants after the debt is paid. Taylor shall defend Rupert from suits brought against him by Richard and Robert Baker, Jane Downes and - Amhurst touching the premises. If the premises are worth £600, Taylor covenants that his wife shall give £20 more at Midsummer next to Rupert and in lieu thereof she shall have the furnace or copper in the back buildings on the premises. Before payment of the £40, Rupert shall give him all vouchers papers and accounts, and shall assist him in the defence of the premises.
