-
A collection of photographs and documents relating to the history of Thorp Modelmakers, the oldest firm of professional architectural modelmakers in Britain.
Founded by John Thorp in 1883, Thorp continues to trade today under the ownership of ATOM. The company's archive is now held by Arts University Bournemouth, and contains over 30,000 items dating between 1883 and 1996. Charting over a century of the company's history, the archive provides a unique insight into not only the history of architectural modelmaking but the history of architecture itself. With over 12,000 photographs of architectural models the company made, alongside documents and ledgers, the Thorp archive is the largest known collection relating to architectural modelmaking in the world.
