Settlement between Bolckow, Vaughan and Co. Ltd. and Richard Nutter of Binchester Moor, County Durham regarding alleged damages to Mr Nutter's Public House 'The Excelsior Hotel', two dwelling houses, shops, twenty cottages and four acres of land. It was decided that the sum of three hundred pounds would be paid to the High Court of Justice by the Company. Mr Nutter would not accept the offer and a Mr George Irving, a surveyor for the High Court of Justice determined that the damage was significant enough to warrant a further payment by the company. Mr Irving decides that the total sum of four hundred and five pounds, fifteen shillings and eight pence is sufficient. The sum is accepted.
