Description (What the record is about)
-
Letter of J[ohn] Forbes, Secretary and Anthony Stewart, Worshipful Master of a Lodge held at the Garrison, St John's, No. 249A [erased], Newfoundland, North America, thanking Robert Leslie for the printed copies of Grand Lodge proceedings and sending a bill of exchange of two pounds for the grand charity. This would have been larger but many members are visiting the United States of America which depletes regular lodge attendance. Have not received any acknowledgement of correspondence sent to Grand Lodge since 1788 and therefore seeks a reply to this letter. With transcript by Robert Leslie of bill of exchange drawn by Edward Lee of a Lodge held at the Garrison, St John's, No. 249A [erased], Newfoundland, North America, on Peter Ougier March, Dartmouth, Devonshire. With endorsement copy letter of Robert Leslie acknowledging receipt of the bill of exchange.
