Administrative / biographical background

A Lodge meeting in the Prince of Wales's Fencible Cavalry was granted a warrant by the Antients' Grand Lodge on 12 February 1798 to meet as No. 312. No records survive for this Lodge after 1799 but Ahiman Rezon lists the Lodge as meeting at Manchester in 1804 and meeting in the Princess of Wales's Fencible Cavalry in 1807. There appars to be some confusion concerning the title of this Lodge which appears as a Lodge held in the Prince of Wales's Fencible Cavalry in Lane's Masonic Records but members refer to it as the Lodge held in the Princess of Wales's Fencible Cavalry or the Princess Royal's Fencible Cavalry.
