Names and acreages of areas in ownership given. Adjoining plots bear owner/occupier's name only. Woodland indicated, Quantock Farm shown drawn in perspective. Map is enclosed in a decorative border of flowers and birds in red and green, the only two colours used on the map. In the upper left corner are the arms and crest of Siderfin [see Collinson, Somerset ii, 26], and the map also bears a scale enclosed in a decorative border incorporating a crest of three feathers, and surmounted by a pair of dividers. In the upper right corner is a decorative compass, with a sun in its glory at the centre. The map has been considerably damaged at some point and parts are missing, including most of the left margin which originally carried a table of reference, a small part only of which is left. It is difficult to compare this map with other maps of the area as, although most of the fields, etc. are clearly marked, only the upper left part of the map appears to correspond to the orientation given by the compass.
