For £1440 and a further sum of £1,296 to discharge the property from a jointure in respect of the vendor; from; Henrietta Jane Arnold of Mirables, Isle of Wight and the County of Southampton, widow of George Arnold late of Asby Lodge, Asby St. Ledgers, Northants; to Francis Bentley of Exhall in the County of the City of Coventry, widow, Mathew Lole of the same place farmer and William Wright of Keresley in the County of the City of Coventry, farmer of (1). A farmhouse in Exhall in the County of the City of Coventry. (2) Vicarage Meadow or Gibbons Close or meadow and the pingle or meadow on the South side of Gibbons Close. This land is divided into, the Great Meadow; a close, part of Far Gibbons Close; Brook Gibbons; the Drift Way divided from the Great Meadow; Sheppards Nook; formerly part of the Mary Staffords Farm; formerly occupied by Robert Stafford, now by William Bentley, total area 23 acres 2 roads, recently surveyed by Mr. Eagle, with reversions, remainders and profits. The above property is to be held to Francis Bentley, Mathew Lole and William Wright, trustees of the late William Bentley to the use of Frances Bentley his widow for life, then to Joseph Bentley, his eldest son and assigns for ever, re the will of William Bentley 25 June 1813, appointing Frances Bentley, Mathew Lole and William Wilson of Exhall, farmer, as trustees and a codicil, 28 November 1819, directing the trustees to complete the purchase of the above property, commenced by the testator, after his decease, subject to payments of £600 to William Bentley (younger son of the testator) and £300 to Ann Bentley (d of the testator) and replacing William Wilson by William Wright as trustee. Also recited are; (1) 13 Sept 1788 Articles of agreement between George Arnold (now deceased) and Henrietta Jane Morrison, re their intended marriage; that after the marriage George Arnold would assure to Thomas Gilbert and Thomas Caldicott part of his freehold estate at Ledgers Asby, Kilsby, Barby, Ansley and Braunston to the use of George Arnold for life and if Henrietta Jane Arnold should survive him, she would receive £1,200 raised from the above property as dower to the use of Henry Howe and Augustus Nicholl for 500 years from the death of George Arnold, the younger children to receive £5,000 each. No settlement was made and two young children and George Henry Arnold only survived, the eldest and youngest child being entitled to £7,500 each under the will of Lumley Arnold. (2) 27 June 1806. Will and codicil of George Arnold devising to Henry Hoare and Lieutenant General Edward Morrison of Bath, his trustees, all his real property in Ledgers Asby, Barby, Onley and Brawnston to hold to the use of Henrietta Jane Arnold, Henry Peters of Betchworth Castle, gent, Henry Hoare and Lieutenant General Edward Morrison of Bath on condition that £1,200 should be assured as the jointure of Henrietta Jane Arnold and the trustees be empowered to sell and mortgage property. George Arnold died 24 Oct. 1806. (3) 22 November 1817. Conveyance [lease and release] from George Henry Arnold (eldest son of George Arnold), Sussanah his wife, Henrietta Jane Arnold Peters, Henry Peters, Henry Hoare and Edward Morrison to Benjamin Austin; Robert Long : re Michaelmas Term 58 Geo III; Common Recovery George Henry Arnold and Sussanah his wife, the estate of George Arnold to be assured to the use of Henrietta Jane Arnold and the trustees appointed by the will of George Arnold, in respect of the will of George Arnold of the 14 May 1794 and codicil of 7 June 1806, the trustees will not sell or mortgage property to secure the jointure. (3) 11 August 1819. Contract for £1,440 from trustees to William Bentley, late of Exhall, of the above mentioned property, subject to a power of sale granted to the trustees.
