From 1 April 1974 this division was amalgamated with those of South Lonsdale, Hornby and Lancaster to create the Lancaster Petty Session Division (PSL). Sessions are however still held at the courthouse in Morecambe, but it is intended that this be closed in 1984 and all sessions held at Lancaster. The records for the period 1932 to 1956 are still at the courthouse, but it is intended that they be transferred to the Record Office on the closure of the courthouse.
