Custodial history (Describes where and how the record has been held from creation to transfer to The National Archives)

These volumes are believed to have been created at the time of the listing of W.M. Noble and S. Inskip Ladds. They note in their published list of 1921 that '[the acts of court] were found dispersed in various bundles but have been brought together and bound chronologically.' It has not been possible to establish the separate provenances of these various bundles, but where the volumes clearly derive from separate sources this has been noted in the file level descriptions. AH5/1-2 are the only two files in the Archdeaconry archive to have been retained in the bound volumes into which Ladds and Noble placed many of the records for convenience. They have been retained in this form in order to demonstrate why many papers throughout the archdeaconry archive have been hole-punched, and to retain examples of the volumes as an integral part of the provenance of the records. Each volume still bears its original number, these being 249-250 for AH5/1-2 and 278 for AH5/3.
