This section deals with the NALGO Provident Society, founded in June 1941 but in abeyance during the Great War and only reactivated from July 1919. After the amalgamation of NALGO and the National Poor Law Officers' Association in 1930, the life and endowment assurance business of the Provident Society was transferred to LOGOMIA (the Poor Law & Local Government Officers' Mutual Insurance Association). Changed post-war conditions, such as the introduction of the National Health Service, meant that by 1960 it was necessary for NALGO to accept responsibility for supporting the Society on behalf of its dwindling membership.
