Administrative / biographical background: Lodge of Harmony was granted a warrant by the Moderns' or premier Grand Lodge on 8 April 1796 as No. 551 and met at the Fountain Inn, High Street, Gosport, Hampshire. After the union between the Moderns' and Antients' Grand Lodges to form the United Grand Lodge of England, the Lodge received the number No. 575. In 1832 the Lodge was renumbered to meet as No. 387 and in 1863 as No. 309. After meeting in numerous inns and taverns in Gosport, the Lodge relocated to Fareham, Hampshire in 1852, meeting at the Red Lion Hotel, West Street. The Lodge now meets at the Masonic Hall, Queen's Road, Fareham.
