Description (What the record is about)
-
It comprises estate and family papers of the Done family and the Crewe family of Utkinton, and the Arderne family of Harden in Bredbury, who succeeded to the estates of the Done and Crewe families.
The records were received in nine large deed boxes which were discovered by Lady Helen in the cellars at Arderne Hall. A detailed calendar was begun shortly after the receipt of the records, but this was later abandoned in favour of a summary list which would briefly indicate the nature and contents of the bundles in the boxes. Calendars and descriptive notes compiled prior to 1962 have been incorporated in the summary list.
